Essential Job Functions
The Regional Claims Manager will be responsible for managing a team of D&O/FI claim managers as well as direct handling a high exposure but low frequency pending within the Financial Lines (FL) Claims Group. Prior experience handling severity commercial public D&O and Financial Institutions claims is required.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctor.preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in the insurance/legal profession dealing specifically with FL claims.
• Prior management experience preferred. Senior technical people without direct reports will also be considered for the position.
• Experience handling primary and excess public D&O, Financial Institutions, fiduciary liability (ERISA) and fidelity claims required. Carrier experience a plus.
• In-depth understanding of policy language/coverage.
• Experience managing, evaluating exposure, reporting to senior management, mediating and negotiating FL claims. In-depth knowledge of the U.S. legal system, civil litigation, and ADR proceedings.
• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to various claims presented under FL policies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $185,000 - $210,000.
